Sheri has an unparalleled passion for nursing that she wants to pass on to anyone who is willing to receive it. As accomplished as she is in her field though it’s her gift of teaching that people remember her most for. With miles of personality Sheri has a way of teaching that would make paint drying seem interesting. Sheri has taught over 700 hundred EC students through their nursing concepts, CPNE and NCLEX at Kaylim Career Institute with a stellar pass rate. More importantly though, her students always say they started their class with an instructor but ended it with a friend that is willing to bend over backwards to make sure they reach their goals.

Although teaching is Sheri’s passion, she continues to work as a nurse in the field and has had the pleasure of traveling all over the United States as a nurse. Sheri has worked at six of the EC testing hospitals as a charge nurse on the very floors where the PCS’s are done and has participated in the selection of the patients for the students along with observing the whole CPNE process, hearing the concerns of both the students and the examiners.
Sheri is currently working on her Masters degree in Nursing Education and has authored and co-authored several books. She has also had several articles published in nursing magazines and medical journals. Sheri, along with some of her coworkers at Southern Regional Medical Center, was featured on the cover of Advance Magazine for Nurses for “Best Nursing Team of 2006.”
Her first love in nursing is dealing with children from birth to 18 years old. Sheri is a RNC specializing in NICU, PICU, Peds, Peds ER, Peds Psych (Particularly Autism), and Peds Oncology working at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Scottish Rite, Eggleston, and Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital) and St. Judes. However, she has never limited her knowledge to just children.
With 16 years as a nurse her resume boasts such things as being an Assistant Director, a Director, an educator for American Heart Association for 10 years in BLS, PALS, NRP, and ACLS and a disaster nurse for American Red Cross who assisted with Hurricanes Hugo and Katrina and the tornado of 2007 that swept through Americus Georgia destroying their hospital. She has served on committees for JCAHO, policies and procedures, infectious diseases, & quality assurance. She coordinated the Resuscitation Team for the new Women’s Center at Southern Regional Medical Center. Being loved by her peers, she was nominated for Nurse of the Year by Southern Regional Medical Center as well as the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Georgia’s largest and most credible newspaper. She has also founded three successful companies and does motivational speaking all over the United States for various colleges and conferences.
Her skills include, but are not limited to, being certified in PICC line placements, WCON-Wound Care Ostomy Nurse, Wound Vac Certified Instructor, and S.T.A.B.L.E. certified instructor. However, sheri feels that all the things she has accomplished would be worthless if her focus/goal was not to be able to provide the best possible care to the patients to achieve the best possible outcome. |

Greg Edwards, RN Assistant Instructor |
Greg Edwards, a Lieutenant Paramedic with the city of College Park Fire Department since 1991, holds many teaching certifications in Emergency medicine including; Basic Life support Instructor, Advance Cardiac Life Support instructor, Pre Hospital Trauma, Life Support Instructor, Advance Medical Life Support Instructor, National Professional Qualification Level Two instructor and Georgia Smoke Diver Instructor.
Greg has also held certifications in fitness instruction from the American Council on Exercise, as well as the American College of Sports Medicine. He established a business as a fitness consultant where he trained professional athletes such as golfers, race car drivers, and football players. Greg specialized in obese and special population clients such as diabetics and hypertension patients. Greg’s medical knowledge and his acute awareness of biomechanics created a unique opportunity to excel in his industry.
In 2003 he decided to leave the fitness industry to take the position of EMS coordinator and EMS training officer for the College Park Fire Department. During this time he developed many relationships with individuals in the pre-hospital and hospital environments. Through these relationships Greg developed the desire to become a Registered Nurse so in February of 2008 Greg made the decision to enroll into Excelsior College.
With only 6 hours of transferable credits, Greg breezed through the entire bridge program in just 15 months but hit a standstill after failing his CPNE after his first attempt, which he attributed to lack of preparation on his part. Deciding that failing the CPNE again wasn’t an option he attended Sheri Taylors workshop which cultivated two great outcomes. Not only did Greg pass his CPNE in September of 2009 and graduated from Excelsior College he also realized that he had a place in Sheri’s workshop to help others avoid the devastating blow of failing the CPNE.
Greg realizes that book knowledge alone will not prepare you for the rigors of taking the CPNE and he’s passing on his knowledge and hands-on experience to future test takers. They say sometimes the best way to learn is from your mistakes but at $1900 per attempt, Greg prefers to teach students to learn from his mistakes so that students won’t have to experience the let down of not passing their first time.
Greg is a key member of our team and with an extensive background in teaching and an outgoing and fun personality he teaches from personal experience how to (and how not to) pass the CPNE. |

Danielle Reeves, RN Assistant Instructor |
|
Danielle, an accomplished Excelsior College graduate, completed her LPN program 13 years ago from Lane Community College in Ugene, Oregon and took a position in a physician’s office later expanding into family practice and internal medicine to include urology and orthopedics. Danielle moved to Georgia in 1998 and continued to work in the medical surgical aspect of nursing traveling to several Atlanta hospitals including Atlanta Medical Center, Northside/Forsyth hospital and St. Mary’s in Athens. With two beautiful little girls, ages 3 and 7, Danielle is very active in her church and in her daughter’s schools. She believes in family first but also in a healthy balance.
In 2008, Danielle continued her education and attained her ASN through Excelsior College. Danielle passed her CPNE with no repeats at Gwinnett Medical Center in Atlanta in September 2009 and graduated October 16, 2009. She also plans to further her education with Excelsior College by obtaining her BSN.
Danielle is currently employed at the North East Georgia Medical Center where she has been employed on the medical surgical/pediatric, neuro and ortho over flow unit for 5 years. She serves on her floors Unit Council that helps to create and approve nursing policies and procedures. She has also precept-ed many new graduate RN’s and re-entry nurses. Through this she discovered her love of teaching and sharing the knowledge that she has acquired over the years. Danielle takes pride in continuing education, understanding that the field of nursing is constantly evolving and has recently completed a course in PEARS (pediatric emergency assessment, response and stabilization).
Danielle’s knowledge of the CPNE tied into the everyday working knowledge of being a nurse on the floor of a hospital and brings an immense knowledge and appreciation for “good nursing practice”. She will be your go-to person for both your skills and advice on writing strong care-plans.
As a former student of Sheri’s, not only in the workshop but for all her Excelsior nursing concepts as well, Danielle has been handpicked from hundreds of previous students to help you pass the CPNE. Saying you will be in good hands with her would be a glaring understatement. Not only does she contribute her years of nursing experience to our workshop, she also has an unyielding drive to help other Excelsior students pass the CPNE. She’s been there, done that and has the degree to show for it… and now she’s giving back. |
